Algebra I

Description: Algebra I provides a logical, systematic approach to abstract mathematical concepts. It also supplies many application problems relating algebra to the physical world. With a systematic, orderly presentation of concepts, and plenty of time for review, your student will gain a strong foundation for Geometry and Algebra II.  Homework, quizzes, and tests will be submitted by scanning and uploading, avoiding the technical problems and lack of personal feedback associated with “automatically graded” math quizzes. This class is worth 1 high school credit in Mathematics.

Grade Level: 8-12 (ages 13-18)

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Pre-Algebra with an A or B. If you would like help with class placement, please email [email protected] to receive a placement test for this math level.

Required Materials: Students who register for this course will be notified when these books are available for purchase from Memoria Press. Students will also need a USB headset (built-in microphones also work). Some kind of scanner will be needed. Conventional scanners are fine, but if parents have a smart phone, they can convert pictures taken with a smart phone to PDF documents. Then it can be emailed directly to the instructor. Students can also purchase a tablet for working problems in class, although it is not required. Most have simply used their computer’s mouse.
