Algebra I

Description: Algebra I provides a logical, systematic approach to abstract mathematical concepts. It also supplies many application problems relating algebra to the physical world. With a systematic, orderly presentation of concepts, and plenty of time for review, your student will gain a strong foundation for Geometry and Algebra II.  Homework, quizzes, and tests will be submitted by scanning and uploading, avoiding the technical problems and lack of personal feedback associated with “automatically graded” math quizzes. This class is worth 1 high school credit in Mathematics.

Grade Level: 8-12 (ages 13-18)

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Pre-Algebra with an A or B through Memoria Press Online Academy (or using this text at home). If your student is using another program then we can provide parents with an entrance exam to test for placement. Email [email protected] for this exam.

Required Materials: Algebra I Textbook by Prentice Hall (Classics edition). Quizzes and tests will be provided. You should not order the Algebra I Quizzes and Tests. Students will also need a USB headset (built-in microphones also work). Some kind of scanner will be needed. Conventional scanners are fine, but if parents have a smart phone, they can convert pictures taken with a smart phone to PDF documents. Then it can be emailed directly to the instructor. Students can also purchase a tablet for working problems in class, although it is not required. Most have simply used their computer’s mouse.
