02. Entrance Exams

The entrance exams test each student on two primary subjects: language arts and mathematics. The language arts portion covers word definitions and a two-part reading test. The four-part mathematics exam covers arithmetic, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra I.

03. Admission

Submission of the application and entrance tests are not a guarantee of acceptance into the program. After you submit the application and entrance exams and a decision is made about your student’s acceptance, the administration will notify you about the results.

04. Degree Advising

Upon acceptance into the online diploma program, the administration will work with both the parents and the student to create an individualized high school degree map. This consultation will ensure that each student can successfully complete the requirements for graduation.

05. Early Registration

Before general registration opens each year, diploma students are able to register for their courses. In addition to this early registration period, the administration will work with each student to secure a spot in any required course, even if that course is full.

Payment for your courses is required to register and reserve your spot in the course. We offer a payment plan option for semester and full-year classes. You will see that payment option at the final billing page of the checkout.

Students need a reliable computer, a high-speed connection, and the most recent version of the Adobe Connect application (our virtual classroom platform). All students are required to have a functioning microphone. A USB headset microphone is highly recommended. Adobe has a full set of specifications and recommendations here.

We use Adobe Connect to host our virtual classes; Adobe Connect is part of the Adobe suite of applications.  All classes are live, real-time, audio and video classes. Instructors use their microphone and video to teach the course material. There are two primary modes of communication available to students in the online classroom: microphones and written text. Microphone capabilities only require that a student have either a built-in or external microphone on their device (typically a laptop or desktop computer). Teachers have complete control over the microphones and frequently call on students to participate. Students can also use written text to communicate with an instructor and answer questions. Instructors also utilize resources like virtual whiteboards, PowerPoints, and more.

Our Method

Classical

The intensive study of Latin in the grammar school years develops the minds of students as no other subject can. Students who have learned how to learn with our Latin curriculum become better students in all other subjects.

Christian

Memoria Academy teaches and upholds traditional Christian morality, and the Holy Scriptures as the divinely inspired word of God. Memoria Academy warmly welcomes families of other faiths, but we ask that you respect our distinctive Christian identity.

Traditional

In our traditional classrooms, a knowledgeable, enthusiastic teacher carefully leads students into an understanding of each subject. Classrooms are quiet, orderly, and disciplined with incremental, age-appropriate, and skill developing work.

Credit Requirements

Courses and Credits

Graduating students will earn 28 credits including at least one Dual Credit or AP course. Each year students will take five online classes and two other classes. These two might include additional Memoria Academy classes, local co-op classes, community college classes, or homeschool classes taught by the parent. To receive credit, some documentation is required. Upon acceptance into the program, parents will consult with the administration for a four-year high school degree map.

Accreditation

Memoria Academy is fully accredited by the Classical Latin School Association (CLSA). CLSA accreditation is designed to help schools further their classical educational mission through a focus on academic standards, practices, and results.

State by State Requirements

Each state has its own high school graduation requirements that universities use when evaluating applicants. The Diploma Program was designed and organized to meet or exceed the requirements in all 50 states and is completely consistent with the homeschooling law in all 50 states. See this link for state-by-state requirements from HSLDA.

Tuition Cost

Diploma Students are required to take a minimum of five classes each year, and they receive 15% off the cost of tuition. Other costs are kept to a minimum and a payment plan is available.

Standardized Testing Requirements

Families must arrange to take the following tests locally and the scores should be reported to Memoria Academy.

  • SAT, ACT, or CLT: Students will also take either the SAT, ACT, or CLT. While the SAT is taken during the Spring of the junior year, the ACT is taken during the Fall of the senior year. The SAT high school code homeschool students is: 970000. The ACT school code for homeschool student is 969-999. With both tests, the scores are sent directly to the student’s home.
  • Students that take an AP class taken through Memoria Academy are encouraged to take the associated AP Exam. Our College Board code is 180036 for AP Exams.
