Famous Men of Rome

Description: The Romans were history’s great men of action, making the study of Rome ideal for beginners of all ages, but especially for younger students who are fascinated by the abundant action and drama of Roman history. In addition, an understanding of modern history is impossible without a thorough understanding of Rome. In this course, students will learn and master thirty stories covering the history of Rome from its founding under Romulus to the last emperor in the West. Students will see the rise and fall of a great civilization through the lives of Horatius, Camillus, Caesar, Cicero, Marcus Aurelius, and many other larger-than-life figures. Students will utilize discussion questions, timelines, maps, worksheets, and drawing pages, and will need to devote 30 minutes per day for this class. The grade is based on participation, weekly quizzes, and an exam.

Grade Level: 3-5 (ages 8-11)

Prerequisites: None

Required Materials: Famous Men of the Rome text, Student Guide and Ancient Civilization Wall Maps. Teacher Guide and Flashcards are optional. Students will also need a USB headset microphone (built-in microphones will also work).
