Latin Translation Supplements

Description: Learning a foreign language is an enormous challenge. Students must first master vocabulary, grammar, and syntax rules but also they have to learn the art of translation. Early on that art is as simple as arithmetic: if you know what the symbols mean, the answer is clear. But as the pupil learns more and more rules and exceptions to those rules, the skill of translation becomes more complex. Students that need additional help through the week, particularly in the sentence translation exercises, as they study the Forms Series will do well to join these supplemental courses. The entire class time will be dedicated to parsing, translating, and honing those skills to help students truly become Latin masters. Most if not all of the exercises done in class will be coming from the Forms workbooks to not add any additional work to the student.

No assessments or grading will be done outside of class and as such will not be for credit. This supplement is designed to give students additional practice and immediate feedback with a teacher in a live class setting. Students that are excelling in Latin do not need to take this supplemental course. If you are unsure of your student’s status, reach out to their current instructor.

Grade Level: 5+

Prerequisites: Students must be currently studying Form level of the supplement class they sign up for. Students do not have to be enrolled in the MPOA Forms full course to register for this supplemental course but they do need to be studying at the pace of the MPOA class.

Required Materials:  Students will need the course materials from the Form Series level they are currently studying. Students will also need a USB headset microphone (built-in microphones also work).
