Susan Strickland

Susan Strickland, a native of California, earned a BA in Music (Vocal Performance) from UCLA and for over ten years sang professionally. She began teaching Latin over twenty years ago to her own children while homeschooling. For some inexplicable reason she became addicted to studying Latin and has not stopped since. She continued her studies in Latin literature at the University of Southern Maine. In addition to teaching her own children, Mrs. Strickland has taught in a number of venues from one-on-one tutoring and a homeschool co-op to public and Classical schools. For ten years she has been an instructor for Memoria Academy where she teaches Third and Fourth Form Latin, the Third and Fourth Form Latin translation classes, and the National Latin Exam preparatory courses. Her recent delight has been to be the instructor for Memoria Academy’s new adult Latin classes. In addition, she enjoys editing, developing, and writing Latin curricula. Mrs. Strickland lives in Maine with her husband of 35 years, Frank, who is an accountant and avid outdoorsman. They have three grown children, two of whom are married, and three grandchildren. She enjoys good coffee and conversation, reading, swimming, long walks and pizza on the beach. She is a member of Grace Reformed Baptist Church.
