Special Needs: Latina Christiana

Description: An introduction to Latin for younger students wishing to begin a study of basic Latin. The entire Latina Christiana program will teach students three noun and two adjective declensions, two verb conjugations, over 250 Latin vocabulary words, and basic songs and prayers. This course is designed for students with moderate learning difficulties. Students will need to devote 30 minutes per day for this class. The assessment will primarily be based on participation and weekly quizzes. Students will be actively involved in class and parents are expected to sit with students to help them through the class.

To ensure master of the Latin language, our students will spend two years covering Latina Christiana. 

    • Part 1 will cover the first half of the program.
    • Part 2 will cover the second half of the program. 

Grade Level: Ability or ages 8-16

Prerequisites: No prerequisites are required for Part I, but students joining Part II with MPOA will need to have completed through Lesson 14 of Latina Christiana. Also recommend that students that are capable use this free typing tool. Heavy-duty typing is not required but this will orient students to the basics of a computer keyboard and very basic typing skills.

Required Materials: Latina Christiana Fourth Edition Student Workbook, Teacher Manual, Latina Christiana Review Worksheets, Pronunciation CD, Simply Classical Latin Games & Puzzles Set, Simply Classical Lesson Plans, Year 1 or Year 2 Students will also need a USB headset (built-in microphones also work). Webcams are encouraged and will be used in specific short class activities.
