Traditional Logic I

Description: A course on how we form ideas, judgments, and arguments, and how we express them, with an emphasis on the structure of reasoning. Along with a basic outline of some key principles, the text presents the four kinds of logical statements, the four ways propositions can be opposite, the three ways in which they can be equivalent, seven rules for validity. Students will need to devote 25-30 minutes per day for this class. The grade is based on participation, weekly quizzes, and a final exam. Students are expected to participate in class for review and drill questions, and may be called upon to answer questions using their microphone. This class is worth 1/2 a high school credit in language arts, philosophy, or as an elective.

Grade Level: 7-12 (ages 12-18)

Prerequisites: None.

Special Note: If you desire the same time and day for Traditional Logic II in the Spring semester then you should register for it as well. We cannot guarantee you will be able to register for the same time and day unless you do so.
