Essay Workshop

Description: Find your voice in literary conversations by contributing an argument and by learning how to organize and support that argument in writing. Using short stories as a guide, this class will equip students with a step-by-step process responding to literature in writing. Students will learn how to discover and formulate a thesis, build an outline, and support their argument with textual evidence, properly cited. A full essay, after an instructor-led revision workshop, will be due at the close of the course. This five-week course will give students the confidence to not only respond fully to composition prompts, but to enter into the larger discussions of literature, and more.

Grade Level: 7- 9 Grades
