Personal Finance

Description: This course provides a working understanding of essential personal finance concepts and strategies. Students will delve into the fundamental principles of money, budgeting, interest rates, mortgages, loans, entrepreneurship, stocks, bonds, and taxes. Throughout the course, students will develop practical skills in financial planning, decision-making, and risk management. Through case studies, simulations, and real-world examples, students will gain the necessary knowledge to make informed financial decisions and achieve long-term financial goals. Students will have the option to take the class for 0.5 high school credits. More instructions will be given in week one.

  • Money: Understanding the concept of money, its functions, and principles of effective money management.
  • Budgeting: Developing and maintaining a personal budget, tracking expenses, and optimizing spending habits.
  • Mortgages and Loans: Exploring various types of mortgages, loan options, interest rates, and the impact on personal finances.
  • Entrepreneurship: Identifying the costs of running a business, business planning, financing options, and managing entrepreneurial ventures.
  • Stocks, Bonds, and Real Estate Investments: Analyzing investment opportunities in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and real estate markets.
  • Taxes: Understanding the basics of taxation, including income tax, deductions, credits, and tax planning strategies.
